Given affectionately as” Gaddar,” he was born in 1949 in Toopran, Medak quarter, under the name Gumma Vittal Rao, and came famed for his revolutionary songs. His benefactions during the peak of the Naxalite movement in united Andhra Pradesh earned him a place as a voice for the Telugu- speaking crowd. Gaddar’s part in the Telangana movement can not be forgotten, and his iconic song” Podustunna Poddumeeda Nadustunna Kalamma Poru Telanganaama” came a chief in every gathering of the Telangana movement. Beyond his musical trials, he remained close to the bournes of Telangana and used his music to reach the millions, slipping light on shafts faced by the region.

He indeed ventured into acting and left an unforgettable mark in pictures, most specially with the popular song” Bandenka Bandi Katti Padaharu Bandlu Katti.” In his early life, Gaddar laboriously engaged in the conditioning of the Communist Party of India( Marxist- Leninist) People’s War Group during the 1980s. still, when the also Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Marri Chenna Reddy, lifted the ban on the group, he receded himself from the fortified struggle. In 1997, he survived an assassination attempt at his home.
